Lora Proia LCPC

Lora Proia, M.S.,  LCPC, NCC is a staff therapist at Village Counseling Center and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She received her MS in counseling from National-Louis University.  As a therapist, school counselor, former teacher, and mother of two Lora brings over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and families. Although Lora specializes in adolescence.  She works with all ages to treat a wide variety of issues.

Lora believes in Choice Therapy and being in the here and now.   Life is full of transitions and everyone has difficulties at some point in their lives but she believes that individuals have a choice in how they react.  Everyone can make their life better, and more peaceful.  She is talented at helping individuals develop coping strategies and empowering individuals to make choices for themselves that will help them move forward. She does not believe that the past defines one's future but instead be used as a learning tool for making better choices in the future.

Her counseling style is caring, trusting, empathic, direct, and goal oriented.  Lora specializes in treating: OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Couples Therapy, Parenting Issues, Self-Esteem, Stress, Life Transitions/Career, College and Career planning, Grief/Loss, Adolescent Counseling.

My job is: 
one of the many ways that I can help others on their journey in life while giving back to the community.
