Jonathon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. He earned his Master's Degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2010 and his Bachelor's Degree from Iona College outside of New York City. Jon has worked in hospital, clinical, forensic, and most recently in private practice settings providing help for adults and adolescents.
Jon takes a person-centered approach to counseling, focusing on growth and empowerment over symptoms and problems. He believes that good mental health (and success in life) is achieved when people are able to focus on and do what matters most to them. To get there, he strives to instill a sense of wholeness and completeness for his clients from the start. He has been described as kind, light-hearted, professional, and insightful. He has had great success helping people rising out of depression, calming their anxieties, and resolving past traumas. He also enjoys helping people learn to be happier in everyday working and living.
Jon's clinical orientation stems from the Cognitive and Behavioral traditions incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. These modern approaches emphasize openness, flexibility, context, and perspective while learning to stay present and focused when facing adversity.
